“Faron”, “Cable Car” and “Toulon”: three inseparable words and a not-to-be-missed outing during your stay in the city! Climb aboard this fun, red cable car – the only one of its kind on the Mediterranean coast – with your kids, to reach the summit of Mont Faron in less than 6 minutes. What’s more, you can enjoy your day out on Toulon’s most famous mountain at a very friendly rate.
Making the Most of the Toulon Cable Car
Access
Although Mont Faron rises to a height of 584 metres, it remains part of the City of Toulon and the cable car departure terminal is easy to reach by any means.
- By car : indications to the cable car departure terminal are provided from both East and West of the city (follow the “Toulon Nord – Faron” signs). Visitors benefit from free, on-site parking.
- By bus : the Réseau Mistral n° 40 bus drops you off just a few metres from the terminal (“Téléphérique” bus stop).
- On foot : the walk from Place de la Liberté (city centre) takes about 40 minutes and crosses the Parc des Lices. There is a steady, uphill climb to the terminal.
Disabled facilities :
– No special amenities for mental, auditory and visual handicaps.
– Lift to access to the departure station. The arrival station is not accessible for the moment (many stairs).
– Toilet, parking.
Opening times
The cable car runs for most of the year except:
- From mid-November until the February school holidays. Please check the opening days and times, call the Tourist Office on 04 94 18 53 00.
- In case of high winds. If in doubt, please call the Tourist Office on 04 94 18 53 00, or the cable car terminal on 04 94 92 68 25 before setting out.
When to take the cable car ?
Depending on the season, the cable car can be very crowded and the wait before boarding can be long. If you have the possibility, come during the green or orange periods detailed on the graph below.

Prices
Prices are attractive and you can opt for a one-way or return ticket as the mood takes you!
The Tourist Office offers several preferentially-priced deals:
- Cable car return trip : adults €8 instead of €8,50, children (4 – 10 years) €6 instead of €6,50.
- Day Pass (cable car + bus + boat bus) : enjoy a return trip to the summit of Mont Faron in the cable car, plus unlimited travel on the Réseau Mistral public transport network. Set price : €7,50.
- Cable car + zoo : take advantage of your trip to Mont Faron to visit the Faron wild cat breeding centre (unique in Europe). Adults €17 instead of €17.50, children (4 – 10 years) €12 instead of €12,50.
- Cable car + Landing Museum : this museum will show you how Provence was saved by the landing during World War II. Adults €13
Your dog can get into the cable car to the Mont Faron with you, free of charge, once it is kept on a leash.
